The cost of housing inmates at other out-of-county facilities from December 2018 to November 2019 totaled $47,181.71 and does not include transportation/labor costs of approximately $29,000 per year.
Guthrie County transfers inmates to other out-of-county facilities at the following daily rates:
Adair County $50/per inmate
Dallas County $50/per inmate
Boone County $50/per inmate
Caroll County $55/per inmate
Audubon County $55/per inmate
Adams County $40/per inmate
These rates only cover housing and food. Transportation, labor, and medical costs are not included.
Impact
In addition to cost, staff and resources are utilized for transferring inmates which reduces their time spent patrolling and protecting.
We are also facing increased challenges with other counties accepting our inmates due to their own capacity and segregation requirements.
